How do Credit Card Security Codes work in Acctivate?

Some details on Credit Card Security Codes and Acctivate

Acctivate supports the entry of a Credit Card Security Code (CSC) when processing a transaction using the QuickBooks Merchant Service (QBMS).  There are multiple types of Card Security Codes, such as CVC2, CVV2 or CID.

The three or four digit Card Security Code cannot be stored in a database.  Therefore, you cannot save the value when taking an order to be used in a credit card transaction at a later date.  This is usually not a concern, since the CSC is not required to process transactions using QBMS.  In fact, the QBMS discount rate is not dependent on supplying the CSC.  It is primarily designed to prevent fraudulent charges, thus increasing your relationship with your customers and merchant account provider(s).

This is a requirement of the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA DSS), which was created by the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council.  Acctivate also strictly adheres to Intuit’s Security Guidelines for QBMS-integrated applications.
