“Acctivate was not able to install required updates” when Shared Management Objects is out of date

After updating Acctivate to a new version, users will occasionally run into an error stating:

“Acctivate was not able to install required updates:
Error: “Registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\SharedManagementObjects\CurrentVersion\Version is out of date (10.51.2500.0 < 11.0.2100.60). Running msiexec.exe with args /i “C:\Program Files (x86)\ACCTivate\ClientFiles\SharedManagementObjects.msi” /q”

This is due to the Shared Management Objects on that machine being out of date. If you notice this error, look for a Windows Update related to the Shared Management Objects. Install that update, reboot the workstation then attempt to launch Acctivate again. If you have any issues, contact Support for further assistance.
