How a Quickbooks Rebuild impacts Acctivate

*Whenever making any changes to your Quickbooks/Acctivate data files, first make sure to run a complete back up of both the Quickbooks company file and the Acctivate database*

When considering a Quickbooks rebuild, there are some things to keep in mind before doing so. While a rebuild may help your Quickbooks data, it will have an impact on Acctivate.

Through the processing of rebuilding, any data that is rebuilt will have an updated time-stamp. This is the same time-stamp that Acctivate uses to track if a transaction needs to be synced. Therefore, any updated time-stamps will signal Acctivate to re-sync these transactions.

The rebuild will update the time-stamps on transactions irrespective of their closing date as well. This means that Acctivate will try to re-sync these transactions in previously closed periods. To clear out resulting sync errors related to this situation, take the steps listed in this article. Unless the rebuild made changes to these transactions, balances shouldn’t be impacted by this sync, since it is essentially syncing over the same old data as before and not making any changes.

As a result of all of the above, the first few syncs following the rebuild may take substantially longer than usual (in some cases a few hours). This is because all of the previously established connections and time-stamps have been wiped and need to be recreated. Once these are recreated, the sync should return to its normal speed. Additionally, you may see several warnings or errors in the log relating to closed periods. The reason for these is due to the updated time-stamps.
