Mobile Printing

Solutions for mobile printing with a network printer shared through a workstation
If an application pool is already created you can skip the app pool creation step (Step 2) below

Server 2003:

  1. Verify that the workstation and the server are on the same workgroup/domain.
  2. Create a new app pool for Acctivate
    1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager 6.0
    2. Expand tree under the server name
    3. Right click on Application Pools > Add application pool
      1. Name example, “Acctivate Mobile”
  3. Verify that the app pool is running on ASP.NET 2.0
    1. Right click the web site folder > Properties
  4. Verify that the default website for the app pool is localhost/ACCTHandheld
  5. Add user to app pool
    1. In this step you can create new credentials on the workstation where the printer is connected and on the webserver
      1. Right click app pool > Identity
      2. Click the option configurable
      3. Enter in the credentials (username and password), existing or new, for the workstation
  6. After you add your credentials to the app pool make sure that you have the permission ‘Log on as batch job’ set for the user on the server
    1. Add the user to the IIS_WPG group
    2. To add this user go to Start > Right click My Computer > Manage > Local Users and Groups > Right Click IIS_WPG > Add to group > Enter in object name (Can be a User, Computers, Groups)
  7. Restart the app pool

Windows 7:

  1. Verify that the workstation and the server are on the same workgroup/domain
    1. You find this by going onto the server and workstation > right click My Computer/Computer > Properties
  2. Create a new app pool for Acctivate
    1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
    2. Expand tree under the server name
    3. Right click on Application Pools > Add application pool
      1. Name example, “Acctivate Mobile”
  3. When creating the app pool verify that the app pool is running using ASP.NET 2.0 framework, Integrated pipeline mode , and has 32-bit applications enabled
    1. Enable 32 bit applications by right clicking app pool > advanced settings > 32 bit applications = True
  4. Verify that the default website for the app pool is localhost/ACCTHandheld
    1. Open ‘Sites’ on the left > Default web site
    2. Click on localhost/ACCTHandheld
    3. Click “Actions” on the far right of the window > Basic Settings
    4. Change the application pool to the new Acctivate Mobile pool you created
  5. Add user to app pool
    1. While still in advanced settings go to Identity
    2. Identity > Custom account
      1. Input credentials for Windows user account used on the workstation that connects to the printer being used
      2. To do this right click the app pool > Advanced settings > Process Model > Identity > Click into the field on the right > Custom account > Input username and password here.
  6. After successfully updating the app pool you need to add the correct permissions to allow the connection
    1. Add the user to the IIS_IUSRS group
    2. To do this go to Start > Right Click Computer > Manage > Local Users and Groups > Groups > Right click IIS_IUSRS > Add > Enter in object name (can be Computers, Groups, Users)
  7. Restart the app pool
