PO Chart: Business Activities

Using Business Activities to track international and in progress shipments
Creating a new Business Activity from a Purchase Order can help you keep track of shipments, transfers between on the water and physical warehouses, as well as communications or assignment to users. International shipments take awhile to arrive, so by making a note of it in Business Activities and tieing it back to the Purchase Order you will not forget it is pending arrival. Instead of keeping track of it on a notepad, store information about the pending shipment in the system using the Business Activities Module where it will not get lost.

In the Configuration Manager > Business Activity Folder, the user who has been given permission by the Acctivate administrator can set and maintain the Type, Code, Status and Priority choices for this particular type of situation (international shipments), so that it can be easily documented and accessed. An example would be to set Type to International Shipments, Code to On Ship, Status to Waiting for Order and Priority to Normal (these can be set to whatever you choose and there can be multiple choices for each).

From the Purchase Order window, click the New Business Activity button and a Business Activity window will open. Enter all the necessary information to keep track of the international shipment. When a transfer needs to occur to get the inventory into your physical warehouse or from the dock to a truck, reassign to the next user to notify them of the need to create the transaction.
